Acceptable Use Policy

Overview

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs your use of the Kontractually platform and services. By using Kontractually, you agree to comply with this policy. Violations may result in account suspension or termination.

1. Permitted Use

Kontractually is designed for legitimate business use: reviewing, analysing, and managing contracts and legal documents within your organisation. Permitted uses include:

  • Uploading contracts and legal documents that your organisation has the right to review
  • Creating and managing playbooks that reflect your organisation's legal standards
  • Using AI-generated analysis as a starting point for internal legal review
  • Exporting review results for internal business purposes

2. Prohibited Use

You must not use Kontractually to:

2.1 Illegal Activities

  • Upload, process, or share content that is illegal under applicable law
  • Use the platform to facilitate fraud, money laundering, or any other criminal activity
  • Circumvent, disable, or interfere with security features of the platform

2.2 Misrepresentation of AI Output

  • Present AI-generated analysis as formal legal advice or a lawyer's opinion
  • Represent Kontractually's output as the work of a qualified legal professional
  • Use AI analysis as the sole basis for legal decisions without independent review by qualified counsel

2.3 Unauthorised Documents

  • Upload documents that you do not have the legal right to share or process
  • Upload documents containing third-party confidential information without authorisation
  • Process documents on behalf of clients if you are a law firm or legal services provider (Kontractually is not licenced for on-sale legal services)

2.4 Harmful or Abusive Content

  • Upload content designed to harass, threaten, or harm individuals
  • Process content that facilitates discrimination based on race, gender, religion, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, or age
  • Attempt to use the platform to generate content that violates applicable anti-discrimination or human rights laws

2.5 Technical Abuse

  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the platform
  • Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to scrape, crawl, or extract data in bulk from the platform
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users' accounts or data
  • Introduce malware, viruses, or malicious code via uploaded documents
  • Use the platform to conduct penetration testing or security research without written authorisation from Kontractually
  • Attempt to exceed rate limits or circumvent usage restrictions

2.6 Competitive Use

  • Use the platform to develop a competing product or service
  • Benchmark the platform for commercial purposes without prior written consent

3. AI Output — Important Limitations

Kontractually's AI analysis is a tool to assist human review, not to replace it. By using the platform you acknowledge that:

  • AI output may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies
  • AI output does not constitute legal advice under the laws of any jurisdiction
  • No attorney-client relationship is created between you and Kontractually
  • All AI-generated analysis must be independently reviewed by a qualified legal professional before being relied upon

You are solely responsible for any decision made on the basis of platform output.

4. Data You Upload

You are responsible for ensuring that:

  • You have the right to upload and process each document
  • Uploading documents does not breach any confidentiality obligation, court order, or third-party agreement
  • Your use of AI analysis on uploaded documents complies with any applicable professional rules or obligations (e.g., solicitor conduct rules, bar rules, privacy laws)

5. Enforcement

Kontractually reserves the right to:

  • Investigate suspected violations of this AUP
  • Remove content that violates this AUP without notice
  • Suspend or terminate accounts that violate this AUP, with or without warning
  • Report illegal activity to relevant law enforcement or regulatory authorities

We will not refund any fees paid for a billing period in which an account is terminated for AUP violations.

6. Reporting Violations

If you become aware of any use of Kontractually that violates this AUP, please report it to privacy@kontractually.com. Include as much detail as possible.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this AUP from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to users by email or in-app notice at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use of the platform after the effective date of any update constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
